It's with immense joy and dedication that I step into my ninth year as principal at Disney Elementary, building upon a 33-year career in public education that began with my passion for shaping young minds as a special education teacher. Education, for me, has always been more than a profession; it's a calling, and a privilege to witness the growth and potential within every child.
Disney Elementary truly is a school like no other—a vibrant community where every staff member is deeply invested in the success and well-being of all our students and families. Our theme this year, "One School, One Family," perfectly encapsulates our belief that every individual who walks through our doors is valued and belongs. We are committed to fostering a strong partnership with our community to provide comprehensive, whole-child support, ensuring every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are unwavering in our commitment to equity and are driven by a sense of urgency to close achievement gaps, ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. Our dedication to Disney Elementary's mission and goals is profound, and we believe that strong collaboration is key. Please know that our doors are always open—we welcome your input, questions, and partnership as we work together to create an exceptional learning environment.
As a Nebraska native, I hold an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Master's degrees from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Doane University, and both a Certificate of Specialization and an Educational Doctorate in Educational Administration from Doane University.
Away from school, my husband, Frankie, and I make our home in Elkhorn. We're incredibly grateful that our three grown sons also reside here in Omaha, making it easy to enjoy our favorite activities together. I cherish these moments—whether it's traveling, exploring the outdoors, or simply making new memories with family and friends.
Warmly,
Dr. Cindy Scharff
Dear Disney Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Mr. Tony Gentile, and I am the Administrative Intern at Disney. This will be my second year with Disney Elementary. I began teaching in January 2015 at La Vista West Elementary in Papillion La Vista Community Schools. I have taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. This will be my 11th year in education and my second year with Millard Public Schools. I am an Omaha native and earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I have a master's degree in improvement of instruction and another master's degree in educational leadership. I have a wife, Jess, and two daughters, Lily and Avery. I also have one dog, Dug. I love all things sports, especially Husker sports. I like to spend my free time with my family or playing golf. My first year at Disney was an incredible experience. I am so excited to have an opportunity to continue working with the amazing Dolphin family!
Sincerely,
Tony Gentile
